I am a "serious amateur" photographer; not a pro. My primary focus is on nature photography with a goal of capturing extraordinary images of the beautiful flowers, birds, animals and scenery that surround us all.

Some of my favorite subjects are the flowers in the gardens of Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover, MA, at the Bridge of Flowers in Shelbourne Falls, MA and in my patio garden. Sometimes, I just buy a bouquet from the local florist and photograph them in the natural light in my living room.

I have traveled extensively to the National Parks, particularly those in the West. My favorites are the Grand Tetons in the fall, Arches and Canyonlands in the spring, and Zion and Grand Staircase-Escalante anytime I can get there.

I am a member of the Merrimack Valley Camera Club (MVCC) in North Andover, MA. I have won many medals and ribbons at MVCC and in regional competitions sponsored by the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC). My photography has improved significantly since I joined MVCC, so I always recommend that new photographers seek out and join their local camera club.

In 2002, I received the Conference Competition Winner B&W Prints; Best of Show - B&W Prints; and Best B&W Landscape awards at the NECCC Annual Conference in Amherst, MA, a weekend conference attended by over 1200 photographers. These were for my print entitled "Walk in the Scary Woods." In 2007 I won the David Hughes Abstract medal in the Greater Lynn International for the same image. Just recently, I won a Bronze Medal in the Ocean State International Exhibit of Photography for my image entitled Waterfall in the Subway in Zion National Park. Over 1100 images were submitted to this exhibition.

I have been a guest presenter at local camera clubs. My shows include:

"The Natural Beauty of the Southwest"

"How to Create Your Own Coffee Table Book"

"The Great Smoky Mountains, The Blue Ridge Parkway and the Sunrise Highway"

My newest show is Dream It! Plan It! Do It! Photographing the National Parks. This presentation includes a short slideshow from the "familiar tripod holes," a "how to" section about planning a photo trip of from 3 - 30 days, and a closing slideshow of my favorite National Park images, many of which are from "unfamiliar" tripod holes.
